The state government has proposed to set up an aero sports and aviation hub on the Quitol-Naqueri plateau in Quepem taluka with the project expected to create over 300 jobs. The project is likely to come up on land owned by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).

During its meeting held in December 2025, Goa Investment, Promotion and Facilitation Board (Goa-IPB) gave its in-principle nod for the project to establish an integrated ecosystem for adventure tourism, aviation training, drone manufacturing and hospitality.

Aimed to creating India’s first integrated aero sports and aviation ecosystem to boost adventure tourism and develop high-end manufacturing and training opportunities in the state, the project is likely to feature activities such as skydiving, paragliding, microlight aircraft operations, hot air ballooning and comprehensive drone training/testing facilities. The proposal follows the state government’s efforts to create a dedicated aero sports policy.

The Goa-IPB has already submitted a letter to the project proponent, Bogmalo-based M/s Skydiving Adventures Pvt Ltd, intimating about the in-principle nod and recommending the GIDC to carry out the process for granting land on the Quitol plateau. However, according to sources in the government, GIDC is yet to begin the process of allocating land to the project proponent.

The project proponent has proposed to set up the hub on 2,45,459 sq m of GIDC land.

It may be noted that the land on the Quitol plateau was initially proposed for setting up of a food processing park one and a half decade ago during the Congress regime. Later, in March 2016, the ninth edition of Defence Expo India was organised on the Quitol plateau during BJP regime when late Manohar Parrikar was the defence minister.
