The state government on Wednesday said that if commercial LPG users apply for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections, they can avail an additional 20% LPG quota, taking the total entitlement up to 40% as announced earlier by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has permitted the additional 20% allocation to support business operations in view of the shortage in commercial LPG supply.

Stating that the pipeline coverage is still limited, the state said, “Users must apply for PNG and submit an undertaking stating willingness to adopt PNG in future to become eligible for the additional quota.” The government said the benefit is time-bound and asked businesses to apply at the earliest.

The government said applying now will allow businesses to access the additional LPG quota immediately. “PNG will help reduce costs and issues related to cylinder refilling and is cleaner and more reliable,” it said.

Businesses can contact their gas company and submit a PNG application along with the undertaking. For North Goa, including Ponda, applications can be made to Goa Natural Gas Pvt Ltd, while for South Goa, applications can be made to Indian Oil-Adani Gas Pvt Ltd.
