Panaji: Twelve new priests were ordained for the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman at Se Cathedral, Old Goa, on Wednesday by Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao in the presence of Auxiliary Bishop Simao Fernandes and Bishop Agnelo Pinheiro of Sindhudurg.

The deacons ordained were Cidroy Fernandes from Mandrem, Bevan Rebello from Galgibaga, Aaron Dsouza from Colvale, Nion Colaco from Nuvem, Canjoy Fernandes from Velim, Valancio Fernandes from Santa Cruz, Elidio Noronha from Salvador do Mundo, Lindon Sequeira from Navelim, Dion Rodrigues from Navelim, Sanvy Cardoso from Utorda, Jofhuo Fernandes from Cansaulim and Aestrony Costa from Betalbatim.

During the Mass, Cardinal Ferrao said priests are called to be “good shepherds” and urged the newly ordained to follow the example of Jesus through love, service and mercy. He said they should be the heart, hands and eyes of Jesus by showing concern for others, serving those in need and looking at people with compassion.

Following the ordination, the priests were given their assignments. Cidroy Fernandes and Aestrony Costa were appointed at St Jerome Church, Mapusa. Bevan Rebello was posted to Holy Cross Church, Quepem, and Aaron Dsouza to St Joseph Church, Usgao. Nion Colaco was assigned to Our Lady of Piety Church, Divar, and Canjoy Fernandes to St Alex Church, Calangute. Valancio Fernandes was posted to Mother of God Church, Saligao, and Elidio Noronha to Our Lady of Health Church, Sancoale.

Lindon Sequeira was assigned to St Michael Church, Taleigao, while Dion Rodrigues was appointed Secretary of the Pastoral Institute, Old Goa. Sanvy Cardoso was posted to St Christopher Church, Tivim, and Jofhuo Fernandes to St Theresa of Jesus Church, Chaudi.

The Cardinal congratulated the newly ordained priests and offered his blessings.
