Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday announced plans to establish AYUSH wellness centres across the state, including at Goa Medical College (GMC), to strengthen holistic healthcare services.

Speaking after inaugurating a wellness centre at the Secretariat in Porvorim, Sawant said the initiative aims to integrate traditional

systems such as Ayurveda, yoga and Panchakarma into the public healthcare network.

“GMC has tied up with the All India Institute of Ayurveda to

establish an Integrative Oncology Research and Care Centre. The facility will combine traditional therapies with modern cancer treatment in collaboration with the Tata Memorial Centre,” said Sawant.

The centre is expected to offer a comprehensive approach to cancer care by blending evidence-based Ayurveda, yoga therapies and Panchakarma with advanced oncology to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that the Centre has approved 28 AYUSH wellness centres for Goa, which will be rolled out in phases.

Chief Secretary V Candavelou, Health Secretary Yatindra Maralkar and other senior officials were present.

Secretariat staff and visiting government employees can avail services at the wellness centre.
