Margao: Sharmad Raiturkar, BJP’s Curtorim constituency in-charge, on Thursday, said that the party’s primary objective is to strengthen its base in Curtorim to contest and win the next election.

Addressing the media after declaring the new Curtorim BJP Mandal committee at Raia, Raiturkar said the newly-formed committee, headed by Dr Sneha Bhagat, is committed to working diligently for the party’s success.

“We will try to reach out to each and every person of the constituency, explaining how the BJP-led government at the Centre and the state is carrying out developmental works,” he said, adding that the party faces the challenge of countering fake narratives about the BJP and national leaders on social media.

When asked how the BJP plans to expand its base when independent MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco is already supporting the BJP and carrying out development in Curtorim, he said the government is implementing development projects across all constituencies without bias. “We will go to the people with the developmental mantra,” he said.

“Our strategies for the future election will be based on the party’s strong base,” Raiturkar said in response to a media query.
