Stressing on the need for structured, scientific integration of traditional systems of medicine with modern healthcare frameworks, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the integration should be   systematic, evidence-based and guided by rigorous scientific validation.

Speaking as guest of honour at the valedictory function of the third edition of International AYUSH Conference and Exhibition in Dubai on Tuesday, Sawant said that preventive healthcare must become foundational rather than supplementary, shifting global health systems from reactive treatment models to proactive wellness-oriented approaches.

He said the global gathering has demonstrated that AYUSH is no longer viewed merely as heritage, but is increasingly recognised as a viable and evidence-based component of modern healthcare systems.

Reaffirming Goa’s commitment to holistic health and wellness, the Chief Minister said the state continues to align its healthcare and tourism strategies with the broader vision of promoting integrative medicine, wellness tourism and sustainable health practices.

Sawant said that as a global hub of innovation, commerce and cultural convergence, Dubai did not just provide the perfect platform for the three-day dialogue but also sent a powerful global message that traditional systems of medicine have an essential role in shaping the future of healthcare.

The depth of scientific discussions, the quality of research presentations, policy deliberations and the cross-border collaborations that have emerged reflect the growing international confidence in AYUSH systems, Sawant said.

He said that the future of global healthcare lies in convergence where traditional wisdom and modern medical science complement each other to provide safe, affordable and sustainable healthcare solutions.

Sawant said that collaboration across nations must replace isolated efforts, as shared knowledge, joint research, regulatory harmonisation and institutional partnerships are key to building resilient health systems.

Participation of experts, regulators, clinicians, industry leaders and wellness entrepreneurs from across continents has underscored the universal relevance of integrative healthcare, the Chief Minister said.

The third International AYUSH Conference and Exhibition was organised by World Ayurved Foundation, Science India Forum.

The Chief Minister was welcomed by Director, Department of Information and Publicity, Dipak Bandekar with a traditional Kunbi shawl. The other delegation members comprised Information Officer Allwyn X Pereira, Deputy Director AYUSH, Directorate of Health Dr Minal Joshi, senior ayurvedic physician, North Goa District Hospital, Asilo Hospital, Mapusa Dr Sameer Sadekar and key stakeholders in the field of ayurvedic medicines Dr Dipali Shirwaikar and Dr Shambhavi Gadgil.
