Expressing displeasure over repeated job scams where individuals have lost lakhs of rupees, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday announced that a detailed inquiry has been ordered into the recent scam linked to the excise and accounts departments.
Speaking to the media at Mantralaya in Porvorim, Sawant said investigation will also probe any potential links to police personnel.
He said the police have been instructed to conduct a thorough investigation including any possible involvement of police officials.
“No one will be spared. The accused will be arrested and his properties will be seized,” the Chief Minister said, noting that even educated individuals are being targeted.
The latest case was registered at the Panaji police station against Ajit Shankhwalkar, a resident of Taleigao. Shankhwalkar is accused of taking Rs 27 lakh under the pretext of providing the post of excise commissioner, and another Rs 25 lakh after promising to secure the position of deputy director of accounts.
“Despite discussing this issue multiple times, people are still falling prey to such job scams. People have to stay alert,” he said.
Sawant urged residents to remain vigilant against fraudulent employment offers, asking the media to conduct an awareness drive on the issue.
Commenting on the Porvorim firing incident, in which police have so far arrested nine persons, including alleged prime suspect Gopal Naik, Sawant assured that a detailed investigation is underway.
