Sawant a magician, can fill up jobs before polls: Health Min

Special Correspondent

Panaji: Stating that till now, the government has filled 2,500 vacancies through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), as also many more vacancies would soon be filled through the SSC and Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC), Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane should provide him with details about the vacant posts in the government.

Rane, a few hours earlier, stated that altogether 22,000 government jobs exist in Goa and he knows about them as he is a part of the government.

“I have confidence that the Chief Minister would do the needful with these jobs, as he is concerned about the youth,” Rane said, pointing out that “the Chief Minister is a magician” and he can achieve the desired results by filling up these vacancies, even though the state assembly election is just few months away.

Rane also said that all the constituencies in Goa including those in Sattari taluka are awaiting government jobs. He also expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will return to power in Goa after the 2027 assembly polls.

Reacting to the statement of the Health Minister, the Chief Minister said that Rane should send him details about all vacant government posts, including those existing in his own department, so that he can have a record.

He also said that the Staff Selection Commission largely helps towards recruiting staff in government services by giving priority to transparency, rules and regulations and merit.

Speaking further, Sawant said that the available government jobs are definitely in thousands and would be advertised soon. “These jobs exist in departments like water resources and corporations such as GHRDC,” he said.
