Cops book K’taka-based consultant for Rs 10cr GST input tax credit fraud

In yet another Input Tax Credit (ITC) fraud, the Economic Offences Cell (EOC) of the Goa Police has registered an FIR against a resident of Belagavi, Karnataka, Naqeeb Mulla, proprietor of M/s Federal Logistics and Company, for allegedly wrongfully claiming ITC worth Rs 10.06 crore.

Last week, EOC had registered an FIR against unidentified accused persons who allegedly duped the Goa government by falsely claiming ITC to the tune of over Rs 3.51 crore.

Referring to the second case registered on Wednesday, police said a complaint was lodged by Imran K Madiwale, authorised representative of I K Aeroamphibious Pvt Ltd, Belagavi, Karnataka.

Madiwale, who resides in Arpora, filed a complaint stating that between January 1, 2022 and June 20, 2024, the accused introduced himself as a “GST and tax consultant” and was engaged to manage indirect tax filings for the complainant’s business entities, including M/s Royal Jamo’s Resort in Goa.

The complainant said he had directed the accused to file “Nil Returns” for the resort and entrusted him with access to GST login credentials, sensitive data and OTPs required for statutory filings for the complainant’s Goa and Karnataka business entities, including resorts that had ceased operations due to a court sealing order.

Police said the
accused allegedly manipulated the GST portal,
entered fictitious outward supplies and wrongfully claimed ITC worth Rs 10.06 crore in the name of the complainant’s parent company, I K Aeroamphibious Pvt Ltd.
