Pernem

The Judicial Magistrate First Class Court at Pernem released Akshay Vashisht, administrator of the Facebook channel ‘Real Talk Clips’, who was arrested by Mopa Airport police for allegedly uploading a video titled ‘Goa ka Haunted Airport’.

The order was passed late Wednesday night, with Judicial Magistrate First Class Judge Shabnam Nagvekar criticising police for not following due process before arresting Vashisht, calling it an “illegal arrest.”

Ankur Kumar, lawyer representing Vashisht, said the delay in his client’s medical examination led to the order being passed late evening. Kumar argued that the arrest itself was illegal. He said the police had issued a notice to Vashisht under Section 35 of BNSS on September 16, directing him to appear at the Mopa Airport police station on September 17 at 5 pm in connection with the investigation. However, police arrested him on September 17 at 8 am, before the given time, which Kumar said was against the law.
