The sub-health centre at Dabolim, currently operating out of a single room in a chawl, has drawn criticism over poor infrastructure and inadequate facilities, with residents and local activists stating that its condition is unfit to meet the community’s healthcare needs.
The facility, meant to cater to basic medical requirements, is allegedly cramped and poorly maintained.
Adding to concerns, it operates in close proximity to an Electricity Department office and rented residential rooms, raising questions over hygiene, privacy and the suitability of the space for healthcare services.
President of NGO ‘Savera’ Tara Kerkar called for urgent intervention from the Health Department and stressed the need to upgrade the centre with proper infrastructure, improved equipment and better patient facilities.
Kerkar also urged authorities to ensure the centre remains operational daily with adequate and efficient staff. “Patients requiring immediate medical attention should have access to reliable and well-equipped services at all times,” she said.
Local residents said that the current condition of the centre undermines the quality of primary healthcare in the area and appealed to authorities to take swift corrective
action.
