Mapusa

In the December 6 fire case, The Mapusa District and Sessions Court on Friday granted conditional bail to former Sarpanch of Arpora–Nagoa panchayat Roshan Redkar and former secretary Raghuvir Bagkar on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 each, with one local surety in the like sum.

Arguments on the bail applications had concluded earlier and the matter was fixed for orders. On Friday, the matter was heard by the Judge.

During the hearings, counsel for the applicants informed the court that Anjuna Police had filed a chargesheet before the Mapusa JMFC Court.

After hearing the submissions, the Judge granted conditional bail to both accused.

The duo had earlier moved an anticipatory bail application before the District and Sessions Court, which was rejected on December 30. They subsequently approached the High Court.

Bagkar was arrested by Anjuna Police on January 16, while Redkar later surrendered before the Mapusa JMFC Court.

The court imposed several conditions, including that they shall not leave India without prior written permission of the Court and shall not leave the State of Goa without prior written permission of the Investigating Officer or PI of Anjuna Police Station. They have also been directed not to make any inducement, threat or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case, not to tamper with evidence, and to deposit their passports before the court within 15 days, if in possession.

The condition regarding criminal antecedents was also noted.
