North Goa Police have arrested four persons in two separate narcotics cases involving methamphetamine, MDMA and LSD. Investigations also led to the arrests of two alleged suppliers.
In the first case, Mapusa police arrested Zameer Mohammad Sheikh, 37, a resident of Mapusa, during a raid near the New KTC Bus Stand on October 16. Police seized 30 grams of methamphetamine and two grams of MDMA, collectively valued at around Rs 3 lakh.
Investigation led police to Umar Faruk Gaffar Kacchi, 26, of Verla-Canca, who was identified as the supplier and subsequently arrested.
In a separate operation on the same day, Anjuna police arrested Abhishek Singh, 35, a resident of Thane West, near the football ground at Assagao. Police seized 97 LSD paper blots valued at approximately Rs 9.70 lakh.
Investigators traced the supplier, Hasan Imam Shaikh, 50, to Mumbai and arrested him. Police said Shaikh had previously been involved in criminal cases registered by the Delhi and Mumbai police. Police said Singh, who studied automation engineering in Pune, was allegedly seeking to earn easy money.
