The Goa Medical College (GMC) has expanded the online OPD appointment system, bringing seven additional departments under the service from May 11.

The newly added departments are Paediatric Endocrinology, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatric Surgery and Nephrology.

The online booking facility had earlier been introduced for 13 departments at GMC. According to a notification issued by Under Secretary (Health) Sitaram Sawal, 50 online OPD slots per day will be made available to the public for each of the newly added departments. Public can avail this online OPD booking facility by visiting GMC’s official website, www.gmcgoa.edu.in.

The government said the online appointment system would function subject to the availability of doctors in the OPDs concerned on a given date. However, doctor-specific appointments are not yet available under the system.

The notification added that the existing offline appointment process will continue simultaneously, with patients able to access the remaining slots through the current queue system at GMC. Online appointments can be booked up to seven days in advance, while bookings for the following day will close at 5 pm on the preceding day.
