Congratulating the police and judicial ecosystem, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Goa ranks first in the country in the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He said it is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the Goa police.
Sawant attended the ongoing three-day exhibition on the new criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—at Kala Academy, Panaji, on Friday.
“This unique initiative, featuring 10 informative stalls by the police, judiciary, Directorate of Prosecution, forensic science, medical and prison departments, beautifully showcases the entire criminal justice process from filing of FIR to investigation, forensic analysis, prosecution, judicial proceedings and post-mortem through engaging and artistic presentations,” said Sawant.
“Such awareness initiatives are vital to ensure that citizens understand their rights and the evolving legal framework,” he said.
He said the new criminal laws, “envisioned under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Amit Shah ji, mark a historic shift towards a citizen-centric, transparent and technology-driven justice system focused on speedy justice and victim empowerment”.
The exhibition featured a 40-minute skit and thematic stalls covering stages such as PCR, crime scene, police station, hospital, FSL, e-Prosecution, e-Prisons and court, aimed at educating students, stakeholders and the public about reforms implemented from July 1, 2024.
