Goa has received Rs 70.90 crore over the last three financial years, from 2022–23 to 2024–25, as the central share of disaster management grants, a reply tabled in the Lok Sabha stated.
The reply, tabled by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament on Tuesday, said that based on recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Finance released a total of Rs 77,089.05 crore to states during
this period.
The funds were released as the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund, State Disaster Mitigation Fund, additional assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund, and assistance from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund.
As per data provided by the Finance Ministry, Goa received Rs 13.20 crore in 2022–23, Rs 10.80 crore in 2023–24, and Rs 46.90 crore in 2024–25.
The ministry said that under the National Disaster Management Policy, the primary responsibility for disaster management, including assessment of preliminary losses caused by natural calamities, rests with the state governments.
States provide relief to affected people using the SDRF already placed at their disposal, in accordance with approved norms, while the Centre supplements these efforts through logistics and financial support.
