The Goa government has informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that it has agreed to
grant Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) benefits to 58 Grade IV employees of Goa
Medical College.

The petitioners had initially worked as safai karmacharis at GMC for over five years under private contractors.
In 2001, their services
were brought under the Goa Recruitment and Employment Society, a body set up by the state government. After prolonged protests and demands for job security, their services were
regularised in 2014.

However, despite completing the mandatory 10 years of regular service, they were denied the financial upgradations under the
MACP scheme.

In August 2025, the employees filed
five writ petitions challenging the government’s refusal to grant the benefits.
