The High Court of Bombay at Goa has disposed of a public interest litigation concerning the lack of adequate transportation facilities for students, observing that the issue has been substantially redressed.

The court noted that after perusing the resolution dated January 9, 2026, and considering submissions made by counsel for Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited, as recorded in its order dated
February 2  it was satisfied that the grievance raised
in the PIL had largely been addressed.

The court said that no further directions were required at present. It, however, clarified that if circumstances arise in future requiring judicial intervention, it would be open to the petitioner or any aggrieved person to approach the court by filing an appropriate petition. With these observations, the PIL was disposed of.

The petition was filed highlighting inadequate transportation facilities for students of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre (DMC). The petitioner had set out relevant facts and submitted supporting documents to substantiate
the plea.

Following the filing of the petition, a meeting was convened by Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited at its head office at Paraiso De Goa, Alto Porvorim, on January 9 to address the issue. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Director of Transport, the Assistant Director of Higher Education, the Director of Education and the petitioner, Radhakrishna Vijay Salgaonkar.

Counsel for Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited informed the court that adequate transportation facilities, including an additional bus service on the route concerned, had since been put in place and that nothing survived for adjudication. The court had earlier granted time to the petitioner to respond to the developments. When the matter was taken up, the petitioner submitted that he did not have additional information to place before the court as examinations were under way at DMC.
