In a move to boost milk production and support the state’s dairy farmers,the revised Kamdhenu Scheme for dairy farmers will now cover up to 20 cows.
“The first 10 cows will receive a 90 per cent subsidy, while the next 10 will get a 75 per cent subsidy,” said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday.
Sawant also said that the government was reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the dairy sector and ensuring better returns for local farmers.
“The revised policy is aimed at enabling dairy farmers to expand their herds, improve productivity and strengthen the state’s dairy sector,” he said.
The Chief Minister was speaking during a function organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda.
Sawant also launched the ‘Sudharit Kamdhenu Yojana’ and distributed enhanced price hike cheques to Goa Dairy producers.
He further declared revised incentive rates of Rs 6 per litre for cow milk and Rs 10 per litre for buffalo milk with effect from April 1.
“This will further improve farmers’ incomes and promote sustainable dairy farming across the state,” he said.
Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, Co-operation Minister Subhash Shirodkar, senior government officials, Goa Dairy representatives and farmers were present.
