The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) detected 4,99,675 cases of unauthorised and irregular travel across its route during the 2025-26 financial year, and collected Rs 27.68 crore in fare dues and penalties.

KRCL said a total of 11,394 special ticket-checking drives were carried out during the year as part of an intensified enforcement campaign against ticketless travel.

In April 2026 alone, KRCL conducted 934 ticket-checking drives in addition to routine inspections. These drives resulted in the detection of 37,000 cases of unauthorised or irregular travel, with Rs 2.90 crore recovered towards fare and penalties.

The railway corporation said the checks were part of efforts to curb ticketless travel and ensure better travel conditions for genuine passengers.

The corporation also said it would further intensify ticket-checking operations during the summer holiday season. “In the coming summer holiday season, KRCL will conduct intensified ticket-checking drives across its entire route, in coordination with Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and railway officials, to ensure safe, secure and comfortable travel for all bonafide passengers,” KRCL said in a press statement.
