Margao

The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) is planning new bus stands in Margao, Panaji and Mapusa, while work on the Vasco bus stand has already commenced.

“Projects for the three major towns are currently in the planning stage, while work on the bus stand in the port town of Vasco has begun,” said KTC chairman and Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar.

The proposed transport hubs will include commercial and entertainment spaces such
as shops and mini-theatres, along with other passenger amenities, Tuenkar said.

On waste management in Salcete, Tuenkar said 80 per cent of the garbage issue in the Navelim constituency had been resolved.

He said daily maintenance and clearing of waste remained the primary responsibility of the local panchayats.

Tuenkar said some “grey spots”, where garbage is routinely dumped by outsiders, continued to exist in Navelim. He said illegal dumping by non-residents remained a challenge for the constituency’s sanitation efforts.
