The state government has constituted a committee headed by the Collector of Kushavati district for verification and correction of land-related documents, including survey numbers, in Sanguem taluka.
The Collector of South Goa, Egna Cleetus, IAS, has been given additional charge as Collector of the newly notified Kushavati district. The new district comprises four talukas — Dharbandora, Sanguem, Quepem and Canacona.
She will chair the committee, which includes the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sanguem, a representative of the Water Resources Department, the mamlatdar of Sanguem taluka, the Inspector of Survey and Land Records, Sanguem, a representative of the Project Affected Persons, the sarpanch of the concerned village panchayat as members, and the Director of Settlement and Land Records as the Member Secretary.
As per the terms of reference, the committee will undertake verification and correction of survey numbers pertaining to allotted plots of rehabilitated families of the Salaulim Dam Project and Salaulim Irrigation Project. It will also explore the possibility of amalgamating old survey numbers wherever required so that new survey numbers are issued, process and complete pending mutations, and expeditiously dispose of all pending issues related to survey numbers.
