Lab on wheels to teach students beyond classrooms

Giving a push to hi-tech education in the state, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday flagged off a ‘Lab on Wheels’ under the collaborative partnership of Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (GSCERT), directorate of higher education, Porvorim, and Infosys Springboard, at the Cujira Educational Complex,
Bambolim.

Sawant, who also holds the Education portfolio, further witnessed the signing of the related Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Chief Minister said that the initiative aims to take technology-enabled learning beyond classrooms and provide students with access to modern digital education, skill development and hands-on exposure for future-ready
opportunities.

The ‘Lab on Wheels’ is an innovative project that imparts science knowledge through hands-on experiments to students across schools.

Mobile laboratories are equipped to provide hands-on experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. They incorporate the functioning of the National Education Policy 2020, which focuses on experiential learning with stress on
practical.

The lab stays at a school or college for approximately three weeks, providing comprehensive sessions and is equipped with 3D printers, IoT (Internet of Things) kits and laptops. The mobile unit is managed by qualified instructors.

Secretary for Education Prasad Lolyenkar was also present on the occasion.
