MRF cancelled job fair in Sindhudurg, claims MNS leader

Sindhudurg district president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Dheeraj Parab has stated that the Madras Rubber Factory (MRF) has cancelled its planned job recruitment drive in the district scheduled on Friday, and an official communication to this effect was sent via email to him on September 11.

Parab also shared the company email with the media.

The recruitment programme was reportedly a walk-in interview event intended to hire a large number of personnel for MRF’s Goa facility.

Advertisements for the drive were circulated widely on social media, which created a major controversy in Goa, with Opposition parties accusing the company of bypassing local Goan youth for jobs.

The MRF in an official communication to the Goa Chief Minister’s Office had dismissed the news of recruitment drive in Kudal as “completely fake”, adding that its recruitment drive for apprentices was scheduled at Farmagudi on September 12.

Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai had earlier claimed that MRF was planning to recruit 250 trainees in Kudal, calling it an “attack on Goan youth” and urging Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene.

The MRF in turn dismissed these claims as incorrect, reiterating that the recruitment is exclusively scheduled in Goa.

The recruitment drive is being closely watched in the state, as the company’s upcoming Ponda unit had earlier been at the centre of a controversy over local job opportunities.
