Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, on Friday, said the state government will soon float a tender to integrate secondary nursing staff into the health system, a move aimed at creating a cohesive care team and improving overall patient management.

“Now, I am coming out with a tender which also incorporates the second line for the nurses so that you (nurses) have the caretaker which is integrated with the health system so that you can work and deal with the patient in a better manner,” Rane said.

He was speaking at Convergence 4.0 organised by the Trained Nurses Association of India on the theme ‘Advancing Clinical Competencies for Safer Patient Care’.

“We are building a new cancer hospital. We will have another 500-600 nurses created there so you will get a job. But we are currently training nurses under Tata Memorial Hospital so that you become indispensable,” he said.

Rane also said the state government has initiated steps to transform the Nursing College into a “class institute”.

“I have already moved to make the nursing college a class institute. There will be no nursing college or hostel the way we are planning to do it,” he said.

Raksha Rupo Parvatkar, ward sister in-charge at RHTC, Mandur, who received the National Florence Nightingale Award, was felicitated by Rane on the occasion.
