‘Detection through iBE enabled timely interventions’

Panaji: Seventy three positive cases of breast cancer have been detected through the Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa project till May 2025.

Over 1.65 lakh women in the state have been screened through the iBreast Exam (iBE) for early breast cancer detection.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that 73 confirmed cases have been detected early enabling timely and lifesaving interventions.

“1,65,705 women have been screened through the iBreast Exam – a painless, radiation-free, non-invasive method for early breast cancer detection,” Rane said adding that 3,378 iBE suspect cases have been detected. He said that the state remains committed to the mission of ‘Health for All’ where prevention, early detection, and access to quality care are at the core of the public health efforts.

“As part of this commitment, our flagship initiative ‘Swasth Mahila, Swasth Goa’ has been transforming women’s health outcomes across the state. This initiative is not just about screening – it’s about empowering women with awareness and access to timely care,” the Health Minister said.

He said that to further strengthen their outreach, they are also conducting free mega medical camps across Goa, ensuring that no citizen – especially in rural and remote areas – is left behind when it comes to quality healthcare. “Together, we are building a health-secure and empowered Goa,” said Rane.
