Panaji: The Executive Council (EC) of Goa University has decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the university assistant professor, Dr Pranav Naik as per the provisions of the Goa University statutes and the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) rules or CCS (CCA) rules applicable to service matters.

A high-level inquiry committee chaired by Justice (Retd) R M S Khandeparkar is already investigating the alleged paper leakage at the School of Physics and Applied Sciences, Goa University. It has also sought authentic information and documents related to the case. The information needs to be submitted through an affidavit in a sealed envelope to Dr Gervasio S F L Mendes, liaisoning officer, Office of Additional Director, Directorate of Higher Education, either personally or by speed post on or before April 1.

Dr Naik had been suspended by Goa University due to the allegations of disclosing an examination question paper to a female student, following a police complaint filed by a group of activists led by Kashinath Shetye.

Incidentally, the Vice Chancellor of the Goa University, Harilal Menon had ordered a fact-finding committee to submit its report by probing the incident in 48 hours. The report has since been forwarded to the GU Chancellor, P S Sreedharan Pillai.
