In much relief to citizens worried about fuel shortage, tanker ship MV Sanmar Sitar docked at Mormugao Port on Thursday morning, bringing a substantial fuel consignment to the state.

The vessel carried 18,000 metric tonnes of diesel
and 8,000 metric tonnes of petrol, all meant for local distribution.

“The fresh consignment is expected to stabilise supply and ease public concerns,” said officials.

The arrival comes at a crucial time, as concerns had mounted over the
past two days about a possible shortage of petrol and diesel across Goa. Long queues and uncertainty had begun to worry residents and businesses.

Authorities also said that this is the third fuel shipment to arrive at Mormugao Port this month, in line with the regular schedule of three tanker deliveries every month to meet Goa’s fuel demand.
