Kakoda

Sporting Club Davorlim clinched a narrow 1-0 win over United Boys of Ambaulim in the 27th edition of the Holy Cross Intervillage Football Tournament at Vodlemol, Kakoda ground on Monday.

The first half saw both sides cautious in their approach, with Ambaulim edging possession and posing more of a threat in the final third.

However, Davorlim’s goalkeeper was in inspired form, producing key saves to keep the scores level at the break.

The tempo shifted after the restart, with Davorlim showing more attacking urgency. Their efforts paid off in the 50th minute when Velroy Colaco broke the deadlock. Meeting a driven corner just outside the box, Colaco fired a low effort that beat the Ambaulim keeper despite a slight touch, handing Davorlim the lead.

Ambaulim pushed hard for an equalizer in the closing stages, launching a wave of attacks. But Davorlim’s backline held firm under pressure, sealing a hard-fought 1-0 win.
