The Valpoi fire station has responded to more than 80 distress calls since Saturday as strong winds and rain continued to batter Sattari taluka, with Tuesday alone accounting for 27 calls.
Officials said Tuesday was particularly busy as firefighters and emergency crews worked throughout the day to clear uprooted trees, remove debris and restore access on affected roads.
Most of the incidents reported since Saturday involved uprooted trees and blocked roads.
On Tuesday, uprooted trees were reported at Kumar Wada and Madhai in Advoi. In one incident, a tree fell on a house in Advoi, causing partial structural damage. There were no immediate reports of serious injuries. A large tree also fell at Shantinagar, Honda, blocking a key local road. At Sonal, a jungle tree collapsed onto a road and an electricity line, prompting coordination with electricity department personnel to isolate the line and prevent further hazards.
Another jungle tree blocked the road between Dharkhand and Dhave near Mangal Karyalay in Savordem, disrupting traffic until clearance teams removed the obstruction.
The Valpoi Fire Station urged residents to avoid standing under trees during periods of strong winds, report fallen trees and branches promptly, and keep emergency contact numbers readily available.
