Panaji: The chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings Yuri Alemao and the chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) MLA Altone D’Costa said that the reports of the committees have been pending since 2014-15 and they are trying their best to submit the reports as early as possible.

The meetings of both the committees were held on Monday at the assembly complex.

These committees were constituted by the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar in beginning of the year 2023 and their tenure is getting over soon.

The Committee on Public Undertakings examines the reports and accounts of public sector undertakings of the state government while the Public Accounts Committee examines government accounts including annual finance accounts and accounts of autonomous bodies and has powers to invite ministers and officials for questioning.

“We are on finalising the report of the committee. The committee has been meeting regularly. But, the reports are pending since 2014-15. We are trying to clear all this mess and submit a report as early as possible,” Alemao, who chaired the meeting of the Committee on Public Undertakings, said.

D’Costa said that his committee held nine meetings so far and is trying to put in efforts to handle the issues that came before it.

“The reports of this panel have been pending since 2014-15. I am heading this panel for the last two years and trying to examine all the issues with integrity,” he added.
