The Telaulim bridge and its approach road remain in darkness for over six months, raising safety and security concerns among villagers. Residents have demanded immediate action, warning that the unlit areas are vulnerable to anti-social activities.
Villagers said the electrification of the bridge has been problematic since its commissioning, with designer lights failing within months. Repeated repairs have not resolved the issue, and the approach road has remained unlit for more than half a year. They expressed concern that the lack of lighting, combined with reduced police patrolling, creates a favorable environment for unlawful activities.
Residents also said that the approach roads to the western bypass through Navelim and Telaulim lack streetlights. They said the service road has become a dumping ground for garbage, as the dark conditions
make it convenient for people to dispose of waste illegally.
Villagers have urged authorities to restore the bridge lighting and ensure proper illumination of the surrounding roads to prevent misuse and maintain public safety.
