Panaji: Tuem Hospital Kruti Samiti (THKS) will hold chain hunger strike from January 11-15 in front of the Tuem hospital building citing delay in commissioning of the hospital.

They have also announced to hold a torch rally on January 15 from Tuem ITI to the hospital building which will culminate into a massive public meeting.

A delegation of THKS submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday urging him to commission the hospital at the earliest

“We have already submitted a memorandum to the chief minister in the past. This memorandum is just a reminder that the chief minister should commence the hospital as early as possible. If it is not done, then we are open for agitation,” said Devendra Prabhudessai of THKS.

The memoradum stated that construction of the new hospital at Tuem in the Pernem taluka was sanctioned by the government in 2012 and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) was directed by the government to initiate construction of the hospital through Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) and accordingly, the foundation for the new hospital premises was laid in year 2014.

“The new hospital is a huge complex consisting of various medical facilities such as various OPDs, operation theatre complex, ICU, morgue etc for the benefit of Pernem Taluka. We request you to recruit necessary medical staff, support staff and other manpower and commission the hospital with planned facilities at the earliest,” it said.
