Work on the development of a Formula 4 race track at the Manohar International Airport at Mopa in Pernem, North Goa is likely to begin soon, with the Public Works Department (PWD) of the state government floating a tender for the same valued at approximately Rs 4.32 crore.

As per the tender notice, the scope of work is construction of a 2.1-km race track, including the shifting of utilities. The bid submission closes on January 28.

Indian Racing Festival 2026 will be held at the Goa Street Circuit at Mopa

on February 14-15, with the world-class event being jointly organised by Racing Promotions Private Ltd (RPPL) and the Entertainment Society of
Goa (ESG).

The event, which was earlier proposed to be held in Mormugao in November 2025, had to be shifted following a protest by locals.

The state government is actively investing in infrastructure for the event to boost tourism. The estimated cost of organising the event is around Rs 176.9 crore (including private investment), with the government contributing a significant portion.

“Formula racing will drive tourism, create opportunities for local businesses and service providers, and open new avenues for youth to explore careers in engineering, technology, event management and motorsport operations,” Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said recently.
