Mumbai: Aditya Suhas Jambhale from Goa has won the Best Debut Director award for his film ‘Article 370’. Jambhale shared the Best Debut Director award with Kunal Kemmu, who won the award for his film ‘Madgaon Express’.
The awards were presented at a function organised in Ahmedabad late Saturday evening. Filmfare awards are annual awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in Hindi cinema. The ceremony is one of the most notable film events in India.
Jambhale is a two-time National Award-winning Goan film director, writer and actor. His debut short film ‘Aaba Aiktaay Naa?’ won the National Award for Best Direction (Golden Lotus) at the 64th National Film Awards 2016.
His second short film ‘Kharvas’ was selected as the opening film for Indian Panorama (NF) in IFFI 2018 and won his second National Award for Best Short Film in 2019.
Jambhale is actively involved in the Marathi theatre arena for the past 10 years and won several state awards for his plays like Nat-SMRT, Are Manasa Manasa, Final Verdict, etc. He is credited as the youngest writer in India for his mega drama ‘Vande Mataram’. His recent film project on national integration, titled ‘Amritsar Junction’ explores the conflicts that shaped the 1947 partition of India.
After completing his BE in Electronics Engineering, Jambhale founded film production company ‘Shree Mahalasa Productions’ and a graphic design company ‘Logocrazze’.
The other winners of the night included Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan, who both took home the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award for their performances in ‘I Want To Talk’ and ‘Chandu Champion’, respectively.
Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress award for her role in ‘Jigra’, while Nitanshi Goel was named Best Debut Actor (Female) for her performance in ‘Laapataa Ladies’. Lakshya bagged the Best Debut Actor (Male) award for his role in ‘Ba***Ds of Bollywood’.
