Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, on Friday, said that the state government will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya and Research Centre, Shiroda, to promote ayurveda and wellness tourism so that it can act as an umbrella for
future initiatives.
“We must see how best we can work together with the institute to create a strong future for the students, who will become the next
generation of ayurvedic doctors. In a developed India, discipline, ethics and a healthy lifestyle are essential. People, today, are looking for alternatives and with technology they have greater awareness and
choices. Wellness has become an important subject, and people are ready to invest in a healthy and good life. This institute has produced many alumni who are examples of women empowerment and who are promoting ayurvedic tourism,”
said Khaunte.
The tourism minister was speaking at the Ayurveda Day celebration, organised by Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya and
Research Centre.
On the occasion, a cancer OPD in ayurveda was also opened, paving the way for integrative and accessible cancer care through traditional medicine.
“The opening of this cancer OPD is not only about treating the disease but also about
providing mental and emotional support to families. Wellness tourism is a priority for Goa, and I am confident this institute will play a key role in taking it forward,”
Khaunte added.
