Panaji: Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao criticised the BJP government for holding a one-day legislative session despite pressing issues like corruption, Mhadei, law and order, and drug-related concerns that need urgent attention.

Speaking to reporters in his chamber at the assembly complex on Thursday, Alemao alleged the government is undermining democracy by introducing four bills and supplementary demands on the second day of the session, and called it a “murder of democracy”.

He said that the opposition wants to confront the government on its failures, particularly regarding law and order.

The Congress leader said that the introduction of bills and passing them within a few minutes is not acceptable because as per rule, legislators must get at least 48 hours to study the bills after they are tabled.

“The BJP government is pushing through its agenda with its majority, but the people of Goa are watching,” he added.
