Panaji: In a major push toward infrastructure development, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has approved projects worth Rs 560 crore, including the construction of a new building for Goa Medical College (GMC) at Bambolim and the establishment of a Goa College of Veterinary Sciences.
Among the major projects sanctioned are the construction of a new GMC building at Bambolim at the cost of Rs 281.23 crore, the establishment of Goa College of Veterinary Sciences at the cost of Rs 143.26 crore and the construction of a new Ravindra Bhavan in Sanguem at the cost Rs 78 crore.
The other approved projects include a bridge from Velguem to Dabos in Sattari taluka (Rs 16 crore), an indoor multipurpose sports facility at Bondir in Santa Cruz, Tiswadi ( Rs 9 crore), 20-bed primary health centre in Mormugao, hospital in Bicholim for Deendayal Janaseva Pratishthan Trust (under Indian Oil CSR funds (Phase II) and medical equipment and interior setup of the hospital (Rs 7.5 crore) and the construction of panchayat building for Pale-Cotombi in Bicholim taluka at the cost of Rs 5.05 crore.
The other approved projects are market complex-cum-community hall at Betqui-Candola under the Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development Scheme (Golden Jubilee 2013) at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore.
The approvals were granted during the 205th GSIDC board meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The GSIDC board also conducted a detailed review of the progress of the ongoing infrastructure works across the state.
The meeting was also attended by vice-chairman and MLA Kedar Naik, managing director Harish Adkonkar, and other board members.
Over 80 agenda items were reviewed during the session.
