Bicholim

Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at the temples devoted to Lord Hanuman across the state.

Rituals like abhishek, ‘shodshopchar’ puja,  janmotsav etc were performed. During janmotsav, idol of Lord Hanuman is placed in a decorated cradle and is rocked by women while cradle songs are sung. Kirtan on the life of Lord Hanuman was held at various temples. The day saw devotees thronging the temples for darshan as they sought blessings of Lord Hanuman.

Later in the evening, palanquin processions around the temples were held, followed by bhajan and staging of dramas to mark the celebration.

In Bicholim taluka, Hanuman Jayanti celebrations were held at various places, including Gimone- Pilgaon, Poira-Mayem, Sankhali, Sudha Colony and Bhaili Peth-Bicholim and Naigini-Kudchirem.

At Shri Brahmann Panchayatan Devasthan, a palanquin procession was taken out from the temple, which then passed through Poira-Mayem village.

In several households, devotees observed fast as a mark of their devotion to Lord Hanuman, as they performed ‘shodshopchar’ puja and sought blessings of the Lord.
