Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), stepped up community development in the state through its flagship CSR program Project Shine. The company donated sewing machines, installed digital smartboards in schools, provided water filtration units, set up solar-powered streetlights, and organized health camps. The initiatives were inaugurated at special event attended by Mauvin Godinho, minister of transport, industries, panchayat, and protocol.
The company equipped 50 beneficiaries from SHGs with industrial-grade sewing machines towards teaching women skills for earning a sustainable income. The digital smartboards were installed in multiple educational institutions including the Government Primary School, Keri, Government Primary School, Charavne; and Keshav Smruti High School and Higher Secondary School, Salcete.
The RO water filtration units were put up at public spaces for students, industrial workers, and residents. HCCB also installed solar-powered streetlights and solar panels at Joggers Park, Chicalim, and solar panels at the Wealth out of Waste (WooW) plant. Through Project Shine, HCCB has positively impacted over 20,000 Goans. Commending HCCB for its community development projects, Godinho, said that, the company’s efforts demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved through effective public-private partnerships. Himanshu Priyadarshi, chief communications officer, HCCB, added, “Our initiatives in Goa focus on empowering local communities. By supporting them we can help create self-reliant and empowered communities and contribute to a brighter future for all. HCCB’s manufacturing plant is at the Verna industrial estate, where the company produces beverages such as Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Minute Maid, Maaza, Kinley, Limca, and Fanta, among others.
