The fourth edition of ‘Bridging Horizons: Confluence of Industry, Institute & Innovation’, organised by ASSOCHAM Goa State Development Council in collaboration with the Department of IT, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), was held at the Government College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Quepem. The event emphasised skill-based learning, industry-academia collaboration, and workforce readiness.
Project director, PMU CARES, Directorate of Technical Education, Vijay Borges, delivered a keynote on ‘Skill-Based Education – Towards the Future of Work’, highlighting the importance of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and the need for continuous upskilling to address learning gaps, underemployment, and automation’s impact on jobs.
A panel discussion on ‘The Future of Industry and Academia’ featured industry leaders, including chairman, IT & ITeS Committee, ASSOCHAM Goa & CEO, Umang Group, Mangirish Salelkar; project officer, Goa State Innovation Council, Sudip Faldessai; founder director, Haztech, Mohsin Shaikh; CEO, EthernetXpress India Private Limited, Mahendra Tiwari; co-founder & CEO, Technorix, Bhavit Naik; and director, DNA Goa Broadband, Raghu Shetye.
Discussions focused on Goa’s potential as an IT hub, skill development, and the role of NEP 2020 in shaping education and employment.
