Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday appealed to the Goan women having good communication skills to enrol in the government’s work-from-home initiative.
“We have partnered with Reliance Jio to make this possible and so far, 50 per cent of women have been selected for this scheme at the job fair in Sankhali, with upcoming events in Margao on Saturday, Ponda on Monday, and Mapusa on Tuesday,” he added.
Speaking at the International Women’s Day programme organised in the city by the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha, Sawant said that the goal of the government is to make women Swayampurna through this initiative.
The state BJP president Damu Naik was also present on the occasion. He spoke about the importance of women in society and the very existence of humanity.
“Earlier, women had no rights to empower themselves, but now they have sparked a revolution,” he added, pointing out that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced various initiatives to empower women through numerous schemes.
The Rajya Sabha member, Sadanand Tanawade spoke about the importance of implementing 33 per cent reservation for women in assembly elections.
