YC Manora’s Julius Carvalho struck twice in the second half to seal a 2-0 win over Nuvem SC in the GFA First Division League clash at DBO ground on Thursday.

After a goalless opening half, Carvalho broke the deadlock in the 50th minute before doubling the lead two minutes from time to complete a well-earned brace. The match saw both teams finish with 10 men, as YC Manora’s Leosan Fernandes and Nuvem SC’s Darwin Colaco received red cards in a feisty encounter.

Over at the Poriat ground, Dempo SC Juniors were outclassed 2-0 by a disciplined Pilerne SC side. Darshan Pujari opened the scoring in the 37th minute, while Ignatius D’silva added the insurance goal midway through the second half to hand Pilerne a crucial
three points.

In the day’s most dramatic tie, Young Boys of Tonca (YBT) outgunned Goa Velha 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller. Nur Gaine and Rio struck in quick succession to put YBT 2-0 ahead by the 11th minute. Kavya Katkar pulled one back for Goa Velha in the 24th minute, but Manish Murmu and Gaine’s second in the 79th kept YBT in control.

Sarjeev Kunkolkar’s 60th-minute goal and Katkar’s second in the 70th threatened a late resurgence for Goa Velha, but MD Mollick’s 90th-minute strike put the game beyond reach.
