The 50th Tiatr ‘A’ Group Competition, organised by Kala Academy Goa, concluded with ‘Zagronnachi Rat’ (Barebhat Social & Cultural Association, Raia) winning Best Performance, securing Rs. 1,00,000. ‘Varear Ubtolo Kapus’ (Machi Mogi Morjim Cultural Sanskrutic Saunstha) and ‘Kelolem Urta’ (Drishti Entertainments) won second and third place, receiving Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively. ‘Vavtoll’ (Taleigao Dramatic Troupe) secured the consolation prize of Rs. 25,000.
In the acting category, Salil Naik (‘Tum Mhaka Zai’) and Alisha Menezes (‘Bognaar’) won Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) with Rs. 7,000 each, while Saurabh Karkhanis (‘Bognaar’) and Venita Salvina D’Costa (‘Zagronnachi Rat’) secured second place with Rs. 5,000 each. Avito Pires De Menezes (‘Zagronnachi Rat’) and Prashant Paddekar (‘Vavtoll’) won Best Negative Role, while Akash Palkar (‘Bognaar’) and Kashvina Cardozo (‘Vavtoll’) were recognised as Best Comedians. Cassius Fernandes (‘Zagronnachi Rat’) and Melita Y. Fernandes (‘Varear Ubtolo Kapus’) were named Best Child Actors, winning Rs. 2,000 each.
For music and technical excellence, Holly Henricus Rodrigues (‘Zagronnachi Rat’) and Dinora Barretto (‘Zagronnachi Rat’) won Best Solo Singing (Male) and Best Solo Singing (Female). Selvyn Joao Carmino C. Braganca & Team (‘Vavtoll’) won Best Band with Rs. 9,000. Marcos Gonsalves (‘Zagronnachi Rat’) won Best Direction and Best Script, earning Rs. 10,000 for each category, while John Alexandro Fernandes (‘Varear Ubtolo Kapus’) secured second place for direction. Peter Fernandes (‘Varear Ubtolo Kapus’) was awarded Best Lyricist.
Technical awards included Best Stage Setting & Light Effects for Romeo Colaco (‘Zagronnachi Rat)’, Best Background Music for Ushank Parab (‘Zagronnachi Rat’), Best Makeup for Eknath Naik (‘Zagronnachi Rat’), and Best Costume Design for Avdhoot Sahakari (‘Zagronnachi Rat’).
The competition was judged by Teotonio D’Costa, Fr. Eusico Pereira, and Carmin Barbosa.
