Khorlim XI emerged as the champions of the GCA Division A after a dominant five-wicket win over La-Paz Garden in the All-Goa state final at the GCA Ground, Porvorim, on
Tuesday.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Khorlim’s bowlers made early inroads to restrict La-Paz Garden to 214 in 44.2 overs. Dhananjay led the charge with an impressive 3 for 36, while Bhuvhan Talawadekar (2 for 47) and Manas Raikar (2 for 43) provided crucial breakthroughs. Despite the disciplined bowling effort, La-Paz Garden found some resistance in Achit Shigwan (47), Yash Chavan (35), and Sumiran Amonkar (34), but they failed to convert starts into a match-defining knock.
Chasing 215, Khorlim XI made light work of the target, reaching 217 for 5 in just 27.1 overs. Prathamesh Salunke led the charge with a scintillating 83, while Lalit Yadav’s counter-attacking 66 ensured there were no hiccups in the chase. Amit Yadav contributed a handy 25 to close out the game comfortably. La-Paz Garden’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with only Madar Basappa (3 for 35) managing to make an impact.
Lalit Yadav was named Player of the Match for his all-round contribution, capping off a memorable title-winning campaign for Khorlim XI.
