Dubai: Title winners India dominated the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Team of the Tournament, with five players—Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Varun
Chakaravarthy—making the cut. India lifted their third title after beating New Zealand by four wickets in the final.
Kohli, India’s second-highest run-scorer (218 runs), hit an unbeaten century against Pakistan and a crucial 84 in the semifinal. He also crossed 14,000 ODI runs, joining Tendulkar and Sangakkara. Iyer topped India’s charts with 243 runs, including two fifties in the group stage and a vital 48 in the final. Rahul remained unbeaten in three of his four innings, finishing chases in the knockouts with 42* and 34*.
Shami took nine wickets, including a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh. He added four more in the semis and final. Chakaravarthy, playing only his second ODI tournament, claimed nine wickets in three key matches. Axar Patel was named 12th man, contributing 109 runs and five wickets.
New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, and Matt Henry were also included. Ravindra, the Player of the Tournament, topped the charts with 251 runs. Santner impressed with nine wickets and strong leadership. Phillips (177 runs, two wickets, five catches) excelled in all departments. Henry took key wickets before missing the final.
Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran (216 runs) and Azmatullah Omarzai (five-wicket haul vs. England) also earned spots.
