Margao MLA and newly sworn-in minister Digambar Kamat on Thursday said the party has reposed faith in him and fellow minister Ramesh Tawadkar as both enjoy a strong rapport with the people, which will help strengthen the party in South Goa.
Speaking to the media after seeking blessings at Lord Damodar temple in Pimpalkatta, where he was accompanied by supporters and party workers, Kamat said, “Whether I hold the position of minister or not is inconsequential. The people of Margao and Goa at large
has recognised my contributions over the past thirteen and a half years. Nevertheless, I remain steadfast in my commitment to assist everyone. Once I assume the ministerial role, my efforts will be
fast tracked.”
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, BJP state president Damu Naik, and other central leaders for their confidence in him and for inducting him into Sawant’s cabinet.
When asked about the upcoming elections and the possibility of the model code of conduct affecting development works, Kamat said he was confident of delivering results. “I have resolved major problems in the past and this experience will help me,”
he said.
Kamat was warmly received by supporters in the Pimpalkatta area, where people were seen jostling to greet him. Gopal Naik, president of the New Market Vendors Association, welcomed him with a bouquet and remarked that “finally the good days
have emerged.”
