On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, residents of Chikhli-Colvale flagged persistent water supply issues, even as the water supply department claimed repairs were completed and assured restoration by Wednesday morning.

Villagers said a leakage in the water pipeline near Swayambhu Bhaktidham Mandir had gone unattended for nearly six months. The water supply department finally undertook repairs and tracked the leakage, but following the work, the line supplying water to the tank developed fresh issues. Water was released, but pressure remained low.

Colvale sarpanch Dashrath Bicholkar said that the disruption affected residents, including those preparing for Ganesh Chaturthi.

PWD officials said the line had been repaired and arrangements were made to supply water through tankers. “Water has been released at low pressure. Arrangements have been made to improve pressure and by tomorrow morning the tank will be filled and released,” said a PWD engineer.
