The Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Goa recently held a school-level exhibition featuring four projects from two schools.
Kingsley Ethan Monteiro from Loyola High School, Margao, secured first place for his project, GLS King (Goa’s Life Saver King), developed under the guidance of Duelan Serrão and Keith Nayden Monteiro.
The smart model car is designed to help prevent accidents caused by drunk driving. It has an alcohol detection system that activates several safety responses: reducing the vehicle’s speed to 10 km/h, locking the engine to prevent acceleration, triggering a buzzer to alert others, and switching on an LED light to indicate driver impairment.
