In a daring robbery that occurred at Usgao in the wee hours of Wednesday, two masked men allegedly broke into a house, confined the lone woman in the house to a place under threat and decamped with cash and a mangalsutra worth Rs 5 lakh.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4 am at Palwada in a house remotely located and owned by Rama Gaude.
Police said Rama, who is a fish vendor, had left the house around 3 am along with his brother to purchase fish from wholesale market. Police said Rama had latched the house door from outside as a precaution. The victim said she was clueless about how the robbers effected entry into the house.
She later narrated the incident to her husband over phone following which Rama alerted the police, who rushed to the site and conducted a panchanama.
According to police, locals could be involved in the crime, as both the masked men spoke in Konkani. Further investigation into the case is under progress with police yet to register a First Information Report.
